My Life in the Beer Industry
I started off my career fixing dents and bends for a Coors Light distributor at 17. As a freshman in college, I cleaned beer lines for a distributor in North Carolina. I worked my way up as the campus representative. By the age of 19, I was repairing and installing various draft systems in Raleigh, North Carolina. After moving to New York in 1981, I became the on-premise account manager for a Miller distributor. A few years later, I moved up to a position as a draft supervisor for a Budweiser wholesaler. In 1987, I started my own business installing and cleaning draft beer lines with a client-base of 400 customers in the tri-state area called “The Suds Company.” After 10 years, I sold it to what is now Arctic Glacier, and currently supervise that division for them.
